Opening: The Chilled Arrival

Apple Brandy on the Rocks opens as a watery, sweet baked apple topped with cardamom, with hints of pineapple to brighten it up. The cardamom and bergamot open with a spiced, slightly citrusy brightness that is immediately more fresh and accessible than the original Apple Brandy. Sometimes it even comes across like caramel apples, warm, spiced and photorealistic in the most delicious way imaginable. This does smell like the original Apple Brandy in the opening but juicier, fresher and with far more fruit expressiveness.

Heart: The Dessert Course

Pineapple, cardamom, vanilla and rum come out to play in a heart that is simultaneously a fruity dessert and a sophisticated brandy cocktail. The drydown is dry and a little fizzy, a little sour and sparkling like a good champagne, but then it changes into oak with a little bit of noble alcohol-infused centre. A grape distillate rather than rum, more brandy or even cognac. The pineapple and apple notes are brilliantly blended with oakmoss, giving this heart an earthiness that prevents it from becoming too juvenile or sweet.

Base: The Perfect Fall Evening

The fragrance settles into a base of comforting ambroxan, cozy, woody and musky, which firmly anchors the entire composition. Cedarwood accentuates the woody facet, creating an aroma that is both inviting and relaxing. The deep drydown is a little sweeter, the apple vanilla custard quality becoming more pronounced and utterly addictive. Perfect for fall evenings.
