Opening: The Falcon Strikes

The initial spray is nutmeg with minimal cinnamon, warm, spiced and immediately commanding. A sweet freshness in the opening, likely coming from the saffron note added to the oud, opulent and strong from the very first breath. Unlike most dark orientals that open heavy and suffocating, Falkar opens with a sophisticated spiced brightness that draws you in before the true darkness reveals itself. Opens with castoreum balanced by a sophisticated citrus that cannot easily be defined, but if forced, bergamot. That castoreum note stays present through the long life of the fragrance.

Heart: The Forest of Brazil

Cypriol oil and olibanum arrive at the heart with extraordinary earthy depth. The cypriol, rooty, dark and animalic, combines with frankincense to create something utterly unique and almost abstract. A leathery accord joins, together with the oud and dark musk, preventing the scent from drifting into just another dark leathery oud fragrance. More goudron and tar and shoe polish than leather per se. Pleasantly animalistic. Like a famous middle-aged writer entering the room, soft-spoken, yet getting everyone’s attention with radiating charisma.

Base: The Dark Gemstone

After an hour it becomes a green western oud fragrance with animalic notes that is unbelievably masculine. Saffron appears beautifully in the drydown, warm, leathery and deeply exotic. The black musk is present from the drydown through the entire life of the fragrance, creating a dark magnetic trail that stays close to the skin while projecting beyond six feet at full strength. Longevity is 10 to 12 hours, 1 to 2 sprays is enough. Among the highest oil concentrations in the entire Le Gemme lineup.
